Increasing safety with air purifiers

Here at Uppingham Dental & Implant Clinic, the safety of all who enter our practice is of utmost importance in the new world we live in. With PPE a fundamental part of keeping everyone safe, we have not only rapidly responded to government guidance, we have gone a step further.

In all applicable practices, we have invested significantly in state-of-the-art air purifiers, providing a safer environment for you, your practice team and all our patients. We made this decision for a number of reasons and the installation of these purifiers have a number of benefits.

First and foremost, having these in the appropriate surgeries ensures that your treatment is being conducted in the safest possible environment. They draw in air and filter out harmful bacteria, viruses and volatile organic compounds – leading to a 99.9% sterilisation of our surgeries’ air. But how do they work?

The purifiers begin by drawing in the surrounding air from all corners of the room

The air is then passed through an advanced carbon filter, HEPA filter, UVc and centrifuge system

During this process, 99.9% of the harmful material is filtered out

Using a high-speed motor, the filtered air is dispersed back into the surgery

See how the purifiers work below

The benefits of our air purifiers extend beyond just safety. As part of our commitment to keeping everyone safe and comfortable, all surgeries go through a rigorous sanitisation process between each patient. The installation of our purifiers has helped to speed this deep cleaning process up, meaning that we are able to see more of you each day.

Here’s what our Director of Dentistry, Catherine Tannahill, had to say about the new purifiers:

At Portman Dental we wanted to ensure that the safety of our patients and colleagues was our absolute top priority. Investing in the technology of air purifiers has meant that we can be confident that the antimicrobial action of the HEPA filters and internal UV system improves air circulation and quality, removing viruses from the air and creating a healthy and safe environment.”

We remain committed to keeping you and our practice team safe through these unprecedented times and continue to review our processes to ensure you can receive your treatment in as normal a way as possible. Regrettably, our NHS services will end on 31st January 2024. We have explored all available options to carry on providing NHS services, but unfortunately these have been exhausted, and we now have no alternative but to hand back our contract and stop providing NHS services. If you would like to find a new practice that accepts NHS patients, you can use the NHS find a dentist service. Or, to discuss your options for private dentistry, please get in touch.
